I am a 4th generation Spokanite and proud of it. I was born and raised here in Spokane, graduating from Ferris High School. After graduation, I moved to the Marshall Islands to teach basic education to Marshallese kids. When I returned home, I earned my AA at Spokane Falls Community College and a BA in economics at Eastern Washington University. While going to school full time, I also worked full time at a call center for a financial institution.
In 2005, my wife and I were transferred to Louisville, Kentucky where I was promoted to Vice President and given the opportunity to help my bank transition companies we purchased into our institution. After working on several mergers, I decided, in 2007, to quit a promising career in the corporate world and attend law school.
The fire in me to pursue a career in law was lit during a camping trip with my dad and brother who are both successful lawyers in Spokane. While sitting around the campfire, they talked about their cases and I was fascinated how for them, it wasn’t about the money or the prestige of being a lawyer, it was about the people they were helping and how they could obtain justice for them.
After graduating Cum Laude in 2009 from the University of Louisville School of Law, I joined my dad and brother at their firm here in Spokane. No amount of paid education compared to the education I received from watching and learning from them. In 2013, I struck out on my own and opened M. Casey Law Firm. Because of my vast experience, I cannot say that I’m specifically one kind of attorney. I have successfully pursued cases involving property rights, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to privacy, professional malpractice, personal injury, and many other areas of the law. I decided to run for judge because I wanted to take my desire to help people one step further and add my independent, unbiased voice to the bench. I love what I do. I love helping people. I love researching, studying and discussing the law.
I live in North Spokane with my beautiful wife, Michelle and my three awesome children, Ellie, Emma and Asher.
It has been my privilege to be a second-generation attorney here in Spokane. My father, J Gregory Casey has been serving Eastern Washington through the law since before I was born. This has created a legacy of law in my family, with Brandon Casey running his practice for years and my sister in-law, Christell Casey as a family law attorney. This legacy of serving Washington with the law is just one more thing I will bring to the bench.
